Description

Sherwood Forest Hospitals provides acute and community healthcare to 500,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark, Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. We are proud of our 5,800 dedicated colleagues who deliver high-quality services across King’s Mill, Newark, and Mansfield Community Hospitals. With an annual income of around £550m, we are rated Good by the CQC, with King’s Mill the only Outstanding acute hospital in the East Midlands, and for seven years running our staff have rated us the best acute trust to work for in the region.

Our five-year strategy, Improving Lives, sets out our vision: ‘Outstanding care, provided by compassionate people, enabling healthier communities’. We are committed to working with partners across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and our neighbouring regions to integrate services, improve population health, use resources wisely, and reduce inequalities.

We are seeking an outstanding Chair to lead our Board and Council of Governors at a critical time of transformation as we face increasingly high demand and stretched resource in health and care services. With strong foundations and a progressive new Chief Executive in post, this is a rare opportunity to shape the next phase of our development and support the strengthening of our role as an anchor institution in Mid Nottinghamshire.

We are looking for a strategic, inclusive, values driven leader with a strong track record of board level experience gained in complex, regulated, and people centred environments. You will bring visibility, collaboration, and a deep commitment to good governance and public service, alongside the interpersonal skills to work credibly with diverse partners in the Trust and across the system.

We want our Board to reflect the diversity of our communities and warmly encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.

If you are inspired by this opportunity to lead our ambitious Board and Council of Governors, we would be delighted to hear from you.
